FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

Handled by one local team invested in your safety.

NOT EVERY TYPE OF FIRE IS THE SAME

A fire extinguisher is the first line of defense to protect your people and property. When you can extinguish a fire in its early stages, you can spare your business from catastrophic damage and downtime. But, the wrong extinguisher can mean catastrophe. Regardless of the hazard, our charged, well maintained & certified extinguishers stand ready to ensure your employee’s safety. In this arena, Nowak stands above our competitors. We are NFPA 10 compliant. We inspect, service, certify, deliver and install…the correct extinguishers for your needs. Our hydro-test specialists are DOT certified and perform work in-house to ensure the quality of work and timely returned fire protection. We process thousands of extinguishers for our clients each month. Our multi-point inspection process exceeds NFPA 10 local, state, and federal requirements which comply with most insurance risk insurance assessments. We will inform you along the way if we are in question of any of your existing assets that could be close to failure. We will work with you and your team to return your facility to a safe level of operation.

And, don’t forget. We have all of our extinguishers in stock at The Work Store. Our extinguishers are always certified, tagged, and ready for purchase. Please keep in mind: if you purchase a fire extinguisher from a big box online store, this does not guarantee it will be certified and tagged complying with your local AHJ to meet fire code requirements for your business. Big Box stores can not tag your extinguisher.

CLASS "A"

Class A extinguishers will put out fires in ordinary combustibles such as trash, wood and paper. These extinguishers typically use water or certain types of dry chemicals to either absorb or coat the fire. At Nowak, we have a large variety of extinguishers to meet your needs in our Online Workstore.

Class B extinguishers put out flammable liquids like gasoline, alcohol, oil-based paints, and lacquers. When possible, turn off the fuel supply before extinguishing the fire. This step will prevent unburned gasses from accumulating and causing further ignition. TJ Nowak is a world-class provider of custom mix Class B extinguishers.

CLASS "C"

Class C extinguishers are suitable for use only on electrically energized fires. “Energized” in this case means that it is fed by a power source. Class C fires may begin from a short circuit, faulty wiring, power cord damage, overcharged devices, or overloaded electrical outlets. Class C extinguishers use non-liquid dry chemicals to smother the fire and separate the oxygen from the fuel source. Don’t be confused, all extinguishers are not the same.

CLASS "D"

Class D extinguishers are designed for use on flammable metals. Class D fires involve combustible metals, such as magnesium, titanium, and sodium. Our Class D extinguishers use a proprietary dry powder material that will smother the fire and not react with combusting materials. Please note that a general use A, B or C type extinguisher will not work on these types of fires. It is imperative to utilize the correct certified & serviced extinguishers.

CLASS "K"

Class K extinguishers are used on fires fueled by flammable liquids unique to cooking, such as cooking oils and greases that are vegetable and animal fat-based. Extinguishers with a K rating are required where deep-fryers and/or griddles are utilized to prepare large quantities of food. An example would be a commercial kitchen similar to those found in restaurants and cafeterias. If you are in the restaurant industry, please be sure that you are using the correct extinguisher for the safety of your employees and your equipment

ABC MULTIPURPOSE

ABC Multipurpose Extinguishers have more than one classification of fire. An extinguisher with an ABC rating is suitable for fires involving ordinary combustibles, flammable liquids, and energized electrical equipment. An extinguisher used with multiple hazards will include a symbol for each hazard type. Every TJ Nowak extinguisher is clearly marked for its intended use. One of our fire experts would be happy to guide you through our large selection to find the correct extinguisher for you.
